Presenter of Good Morning Ireland – Saturday’s 1:05 – 3pm
Born and raised in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Educated in Galway with a BA Hons. Degree in Hotel Management. Graduated top of the class in 1995. Worked and Studied in Germany for over a year as part of the college degree program.
Completed post graduate management training in the U.K. with Choice Hotels International and spent periods of time working in Birmingham, London, Walsall, Welwyn Garden City and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Returned to Ireland and worked with the Gleneagle Hotel Group in a sales & marketing capacity in the Dublin office before moving to the States in 1999 to work with the newly opened Curragh Irish Pub in Schaumburg.
Completed the Radio Connections Broadcasting Course in ’01-’02 which included on the job training at the studios of 93.9 WLIT in Chicago under the direction of Ken Southern – then assistant program director and radio instructor at Columbia college and the Lombard school of broadcasting.
Became General Manager of the Curragh in 2002 and remained so until it closed on April 1st 2006 as part of it’s relocation to Edison Park, Chicago following it’s sale to make way for a retail development at it’s site next to Woodfield mall in Schaumburg.
Took over presenting the Good Morning Ireland Show in October ’05 after John Gurhy (its founder) announced his decision to return to live in his native Sligo. Has a keen interest in politics and current affairs and enjoys all facets of Irish music.
